We like to wait until the very last minute to pick it. That way, it's as big as it can possibly be. You could chop up and freeze the stalks to be used in soups etc. The fact that they can be planted in 15" spacing really does mean it can be a productive bed.

BUT, as you add, it tastes great! The Stay @ Home-Gardenerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06102175625149771801noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2107727598493805243.post-34718643055829794112012-06-05T07:32:45.817-04:002012-06-05T07:32:45.817-04:00Thanks Daphne. I don't look at it that way at all. We see it as a very nutritious alternative to store bought stuff, great tasting with an early season and short number of days to maturity. In about 2 weeks when the broccoli is pulled up, we'll have two long, empty rows to plant whatever we desire. Broccoli is well worth the effort.Jodyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05442310215979259623noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2107727598493805243.post-59517279117943821382012-06-05T07:24:42.749-04:002012-06-05T07:24:42.749-04:00We were so happy to come home to a head of broccol...We were so happy to come home to a head of broccoli like that!
