This week and last week we harvested Butter crunch, Prizehead and Black Seeded Simpson lettuce from Livingston Seed Co. We've taken 1 pound and 13 ounces from the cold frame over the last two weeks. So far this year we've harvested harvested just over 3 pounds of lettuce. Hooray!

Your lettuce looks beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks Daphne, that means a lot coming from a lettuce guru like you.
DeleteThat is some really nice looking lettuce! We are just easing into the first of the season lettuces and I am thrilled to be bringing salad greens back to the table again - even if it is only small amounts for the time being.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it a great thing to bring greens to the table. We enjoy it so much.
DeleteIsn't it great to have fresh lettuce this time of year? Looks like all yours needs is a fork!
ReplyDeleteWonderful lettuce Jody! It is so nice to have some fresh veggies during the winter. It looks like your cold frames are doing well!
ReplyDeleteThank you Robin, our cold frames are doing better than I could have hoped. I think it's a combination of several things like a mild winter, the light in the frame, the cover we put on at night, maybe even the hot manure beneath the soil. I don't expect the same level of success in a colder year after the manure has gotten cold.
Deletelovely lettuce!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
Deletevery nice!
