Harvest Monday

The harvest has definitely slowed down during this last half of September. The nights are colder and the fruit is growing slowly. Amazingly we're still getting peppers, eggplant and tomatoes! We harvested eggplant today and pulled the plants. We're holding out with several tomato and even a couple pepper plants. Our average first frost date is anywhere from October 10 to October 15. We'll see what happens over the next couple of weeks.

We harvested the rest of our potatoes (they were hiding in the main garden, our sweet potatoes (we waited to long to harvest them) and all the watermelon. This will be the last big weight total for the year. Be sure to stop by Daphne's Dandelions to see what others have to share for Harvest Monday.

(As you look you'll notice the date on the camera is off. Sorry about that. These pics were taken today! Q. James wasn't even a twinkle in our eyes in 2005!)

The potatoes are in, the garden is clearing...

Half n'ked Q James did it all! Great work kid!

Here's what we harvested today! Everything else is pictured individually below.

  1. What a beautiful, bountiful harvest! Congratulations on reaching your 1000 pound goal. I'm still 40-some pounds away from that, not sure I'll make it. It has been a very successful gardening year though, so much better than 2011!

    1. We're glad they're still producing. They started late, so this is make-up time for us.
