Harvest Monday 12/26/11

The final casualty in our attempt at a late season crop was cabbage. We harvested 21 heads, for an amazing, outstanding, incredible total of 3 spectacular pounds! We also harvested 5 ounces of broccoli shoots and pulled the plants.  We picked a little cilantro that keeps holding on despite freezing temps and took 4 ounces of red leaf lettuce and 5 ounces of sprouts from the cold frame.

  3. That is pretty amazing that you can push the growing season until the end of December.

  5. Although the cabbage is small, it's a great December harvest for sure!

I really need to get out there and do some harvesting from the cold frames.

  6. Cabbage is tasty - big or small! The broccoli side shoots are wonderful. Our broccoli is long done for the season and I am missing it tremendously.

  7. Mrs. Pickles, thanks, it's been a learning experience.

Ginny, be sure to post about your cabbage and broccoli. I would really enjoy reading about that harvest.

Grafixmuse, hoop houses would make all the difference I think.

Sue, We cherished every tiny shoot!

Robin, thanks, we'll see what next year brings!

KitsapFG, The cabbage and broccoli was very tasty. I was sad to finally pull it up. Now we only have garlic, some carrots and a couple of leeks left in the ground for the rest of the year.
